Our most commonly asked question, and
the most difficult to answer.
We do have basic design packages to
help in getting a web site started. Click
here for information on those packages.
Otherwise, the most basic answer is:
$50.00 per hour, billed in 15 minute increments. This is
technically a correct answer, but not really helpful.
Now the REAL answer: Depending on the
type of site you need, the features necessary and the time required
to complete it, a well-designed basic custom web site could begin at around
$250 with our discounted design package. Add web hosting and
domain registration and it's $375. Other features will be
priced according to the time and work involved in creation.
Basically, the more we add... the more it costs.
The most complete answer we can give
is: Please call or e-mail. We can make an appointment to get
together and discuss your specific needs.

Also called the URL (Universal Resource
Locator), the domain name usually begins with "www." and ends with
".com", ".net" or ".org". What goes in between is a unique
identifier for your web site.
A few things to remember about
choosing a domain name:
- Shorter is better. The easier
your domain is to remember, the better and more successful your
site will be.
- ALL of the three
letter combinations were taken at least two years ago.
- You don`t necessarily need to
have your business name as your domain name. Your domain name
can be descriptive of your business. For example, if your
business is "Bill`s House of Ferrets," you might try "www.ferret.com"
or "www.ferretfolk.com".
- At this point, be prepared to
make a concession or two. It may be necessary to add a hyphen to
the name, or take a ".net" instead of a ".com" in order to get
the name you want.

What you need to know is far more
than we can go into here. It would fill an entire web site.
As a matter of fact it does. The best
information about search engines and directories can be found at:

Be prepared to spend an hour or two,
and you`ll probably find yourself bookmarking the site for future
reference. |

Ask for the moon on a stick. Why
not? It's what you really want.
If you find that you can`t afford the
entire site, ask your PongoWeb Web Design representative about
building the site in sections. The Internet is dynamic and
ever-changing. Your web site should be too! |

This is another subject that could
generate volumes, but here it is in a nutshell:
E-commerce involves three components.
The first is the ability to accept credit cards.
That`s between you and your lending institution. You`ll have to
apply to your bank, Cardservice International, or any of the other
financial companies that deal in these things. Be aware that if you
are approved, there might several fees involved: install fees,
monthly fees, per transaction fees, a percentage of the sale fee or
any or all of the above. The best advice is to shop around and find
the rates and plans that suit your situation best.
Second component: once
you are approved to take credit cards, you`ll need to obtain a
merchant certificate. One of the best sources for a merchant
certificate is through
PayPal. The fee
currently is about $150.00 yearly, and you can think of it as an
Internet notary. It guarantees to your customers that their credit
card information is being transmitted securely, and that they are
dealing with who they think they`re dealing with.
In order to make your merchant
certificate work on the web, you`ll need the third element of
e-commerce, the Secure Socket Layer. This is included on Web
Hosting Premium package from PongoWeb. Click
here for details. |

These are the steps to getting your web
design done:
-
We'll
interview you to learn about your business, services, products,
clientele and target market. Then we'll provide a written bid
for your web site.
-
Once
it's accepted and the contract signed, we'll ask you for a 50%
deposit and make an appointment for you to meet with a PongoWeb
Web Developer. During that meeting, you'll provide us with
copies of your promo material and graphics. Note: You can
save money by providing us with your essential text and images
on disk.
-
If
necessary we'll register your domain, set up your web hosting
and put up a temporary "announcement" page.
-
Working closely with you, your PongoWeb designer will prepare a
mockup based on your initial meeting. Your input will be
essential, and changes will be made until your site has exactly
the right "look and feel". After that comes programming code,
graphics, testing, navigation on and off-line, checking
hyperlinks, viewing on major browsers, all with your approvals
along the way. At some point, when we all agree that the process
is about 75% done, we'll bill you another 25%.
-
When
the site is completed, we'll upload the finished site to the
server and bill you the final 25%.
